Sacramento Regional Trail Network
Vision for a Connected Sacramento Region
Imagine over 1,000 miles of trails connecting you to the region’s favorite destinations. Pretty cool, right?
The Sacramento Regional Trail Network will spark a new wave of walking, biking, and rolling to daily destinations throughout the region. Imagine a network of trails that makes it easy for families to ride to their favorite park, provides a safe route for children to get to school, and offers a simple way for residents to explore new corners of their neighborhoods and cities.
The network envisions reliable routes to the best places around the region for all ages, and abilities.
Building the Sacramento Region Trail Network
SACOG staff are currently working with jurisdictions across the region to support the growth of the trail network. In 2022, the SACOG Board of Directors approved the Trail Network Action Plan.
In Fall 2024, SACOG staff began working with consultants to develop an Implementation Strategy. This project is an 18-month process that will ultimately result in an actionable strategy that focuses on funding, governance, and implementation actions that SACOG can take to support jurisdictions implementing trail projects. This project includes a technical assistance pilot program focused on supporting a select number of the region's jurisdictions who are building segments of the network. For more information, visit the 2025 Trail Technical Assistance Application page.
