Next Generation Solutions & Clean Air Program (CMAQ)
The SACOG Federal Funding Cycle is organized into three distinct programs that help direct federal transportation dollars to the region’s highest priorities in the six-county region. Each program supports different types of projects that collectively aim to improve air quality, enhance mobility, and keep our transportation system in good working condition.
The Next Generation Solutions & Clean Air Program (CMAQ) program supports projects that reduce emissions and improve air quality—such as high-capacity transit, zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure, bikeways and trails, Complete Streets, traffic flow improvements, and programs that encourage carpooling, transit use, and other clean transportation options.

August 14 Application Screening
The August 14 submission must be a complete application, including all required responses, supporting information, and attachments.
SACOG will screen the application for major eligibility, completeness, and consistency concerns. Staff may identify missing required materials; inconsistencies among the project scope, cost, schedule, and funding request; or other readily identifiable issues that could prevent the application from being fully evaluated.
The screening will not include application scoring, line-by-line edits, an assessment of competitiveness, or detailed recommendations for improving individual responses. Applicants remain responsible for ensuring that their final applications meet all program requirements.
Applicants may revise any portion of the application through the September 18 final application deadline.
